Yesterday was not only my blog’s birthday, but I also finished a small book by F.Shalyapin ‘Pages of my life’.To say that I loved it is not enough – it was so astonishingly sincere, open-hearted, wise and touching – not just touching, but touching your soul, that it was a revelation for me. It was really out of this world.
P.S. I started this page on August,3. To read the latest comments I had to scroll the page miles down. So, I’m moving the page to the Forum
The latest book I’ve read was “The Trial” (Kafka). I really loved it!!!
Out last film was “9 ½ dates” (romantic comedy), the only reason for watching it for us was that it’s hungarian – and as you know it’s one of our favourite countries))
A song from me is “We are the people” (empire of the sun). I’ve been listening it for several days and I still love it)))))))))) and a phrase from there “we are the people that rule the word” sounds very positive for me)) I start believing in it))
I liked the song, too.
For those interested:Empire of The Sun Lyrics on http://www.lyrics-celebrities.anekatips.com/
We can remember swimming in December,
Heading for the city lights, in 1975
We share in each other
Nearer than father
The scent of a lemon, drips from your eyes
We are the people that rule the world
A force running in every boy and girl
All rejoicing in the world
Take me now
We can try
We lived an adventure
Love in the Summer
Followed the sun till night
Reminiscing other times of life
For each every other
The feeling was stronger
The shock hit eleven
Got lost in your eyes
I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me, but I know I try
Are you gonna leave me now
Can’t you be believing now
(repeat)
Can you remember and humanize,
It was still where we’d energized,
Lie in the sand and visualize like its 75 again
We are the people that rule the world
A force running in every boy and girl
All rejoicing in the world
Take me now
We can try
I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me, but I know I try
Are you gonna leave me now
Can’t you be believing now
(repeat)
I know everything about you
You know everything about me
Know everything about us
(repeat)
I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me, but I know I try
Are you gonna leave me now
Can’t you be believing now
(repeat)
—————
It’s strange, but what I heard was:
‘I don’t know everything about you
You don’t know everything about me
Don’t Know everything about us’
The games of my subconscious mind))
And I keep reading R.Akutagava’s stories – I enjoy them, I hope we’ll discuss some of them…
No new films from me) because don’t now why, but now I don’t want to see films or read books
But still I have a song to share:
“Ten Million Slaves” – the main music theme from “Public enemies”
I’m the only person here who hasn’t seen it yet))
I like this song))
I’m sure by Monday you’ll have seen a dozen new films (five at the very least), and I’ll feel envious and lagging behind))
Have a nice week-end!
Only today I listened to the song. I keep hearing what’s not in it – ‘Don’t go away’ instead of ‘Don’t know where’))
My new/long forgotten word is ’shackles’
Here’s a youtube link to the song+lyrics – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxW9_tPumc
Rain and fire crossed that ocean
Another mad man done struck again
Rain and fire crossed that ocean
Another mad man done struck again
Sitting down here fallout shelter
Paint my walls, twice a week
Sitting down here fallout shelter
Think about the slaves, long time ago
Ten million slaves crossed that Ocean
They had shackles on Their Legs
Ten million slaves crossed that Ocean
They had Shackles on Their Legs
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where they’ve been
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where they’ve been
Sun goes out, you’ll be standing
You’ll be standing by yourself
Sun goes out, you’ll be standing
You’ll be standing by yourself
Ten million slaves crossed that Ocean
They Had Shackles on their legs
Ten million slaves crossed that Ocean
They had shackles on their legs
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where they’ve been
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where they’ve been
Ten million slaves crossed that ocean
They had shackles on their legs
Food goes bad, food looks Rancid
But they ate it anyway
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where theyve been
Don’t know where, where they’re going
Don’t know where, where they’ve been
Sun goes out, you’ll be standing
You’ll be standing all alone
Sun goes out, you’ll be standing
You’ll be standing all alone
All alone, all alone, all alone, all alone, all alone
it’s amazing, but no new films from me and again a song)
I like text)

if someone is going to London in the near future, pls., visit this exhibition:
Brigitte Bardot and the Original Paparazzi, James Hyman Gallery
and I will envy…)
“Finish the week with big hair, bee-stung lips and lashings of eyeliner with this lavish photography exhibition of French provocateur Brigitte Bardot. 75 vintage images – all tousled hair, doe eyes and kittenish sex appeal – are beautifully evocative of the ultimate 60s siren.”

for me it’s not just a beautiful song but also one of the stylish videos)
by the way I still doubt where he said “if you love me won’t you let me know” to his lover or to God
* not where but whether)
pls., read a comment about homeless gentleman (first picture)
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
I enjoyed reading it – thanks a lot! But I noticed all those blue details the moment I saw the picture and I was surprised to read the author’s comments, to realise it was the colour that caught his eye too. And I agree you get the feeling of dignity, which is rare in homeless people.
P.S. There was a misprint in this article)) – did you notice it?
do you mean they are not to(o) happy?))
Exactly!
I’d like to mention one more time about the film “ Breaking the Waves”
When I started watching it, I wanted to switch the chanel, but then I just couldn’t tear myself away from the film
especially I was impressed by the main actress
if you saw the film, we could discuss it)
Olya, your comments are always so inspiring that the next film I’m going to see is ‘Breaking the waves’!
And I hope to see Emir Kusturica’s ‘The Black cat’ today – a friend told me it’s very special.
I haven’t seen ‘Breaking the waves’ yet – 2 online trainings and home routine take up too much of my time, I guess.
And I’m making a mess in my home looking for the lost book I’d borrowed. And my car needs repairing. And… I can’t think of any other excuses, but there should be a couple more))
Have a rainbow day!
P.S. All I wanted to say, actually, was that very often I can remember not the whole film but some shots, or phrases and can’t even remember if I liked it or not – just like you.
P.P.S. But your memory is much, MUCH better – and you see much more films, at that.
I miss you, when I don’t see you comments and even more so when I see them.
I promised to send you a name of that French film
here it is – История любви (Decalage horaire)
to be honest I don’t remember whether I liked it or not) most likely it’s one more sweet melodrama, but sometime we need to watch such movies I guess)
the only thing I remember from the film – mixed ketchup- mayonnaise sauce)
p.s. what about “Breaking the Waves”?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd3oYFS9g9I&feature=channel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFx755QeJME&feature=player_embedded#
I liked both, especially the ‘extra virgin’ question))
Have fun!
hello))
I liked you links) by the way fest “future shorts” comes in the cinema “35 mm” twice a year)
I’ve seen a film ‘Lost and Delirious’ (Canada, 2002)
I liked it, I wouldn’t recommend it for you though)
today I went to the stad to watch a game with my team) and spartak won 3:0!!!
Anya is cool, she started learning Italian, so she can leave me behind with my French) hehe)
and tomorrow we are going to visit a fashion show at Russian fashion week, we’ve got invitations from designers of the show, they are our potential customers)) (you must remember that Zoya’s and Masha’s meeting)
no new words for today) hope to get some tomorrow)
have lots of sweet dreams)))))))))))
Olya, you soften my heart. Since you’ve been doing it for a long time, I think it’ll melt soon.
Sleep with angels. Lots of love, A.L.
a song from me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq4tyDRhU_4
I’ve just seen a film “The Girlfriend Experience” about an expensive escort girl (in english by the way)
although there are some important problems shown, they are not uncovered really
so it’s just a beautiful film, and I liked it)
p.s. especially I liked her beige coat with fur collar)
I’ve just come back from Thierry Mugler’s show) It wasn’t the best show I’ve ever seen, but I liked the atmosphere)
I was sitting on the floor in front of the catwalk) and taking pictures like a real photographer)
Anya also was there and she liked another show more – with big dogs on the catwalk)
«The Girlfriend Experience», Thierry Mugler’s show, someone else’s show, leaving comments here – where do you find the time?!! You are a great time manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Say hello to Anya – she is also great! And I pick up some of your qualities, I hope.
P.S. I thought of Ira and Masha – I learned so many things from them, too… Say hello! I love all of you! Take care
when I told you about the film “13” (Géla Babluani), I forgot to mention that it’s a psychological thriller,
it’s really strong film, but maybe now you need something more positive)
a new exhibition)
http://www.tretyakovgallery.ru/ru/calendar/exhibitions/exhibitions1680/
thanks, a thriller is right what I want, really.
The word ’strong’ characterising a film, made me doubt if it’s correct.I looked through Word focus for STRONG in LDCE. Thats what it says:
person: tough, muscular, wiry, powerful
thing: tough, sturdy, durable, rugged, heavy-duty, indestructible, well-made, robust
country/organization: powerful, mighty, influential, dominantstrong
Olya, it dosn’t matter whether it’s right or wrong. What matters is that you read what you need in English and enjoy not only the ideas but the form, as well. This makes you so special…
Take care
morning raining hello))
hehe, I like your delicate way for correcting our English) and we love you for it (not just for it of course))))))))))))))))
I should have said “impressive film”, but it also could be a strong film as well, because it’s quite tough)
have a nice day))))))))))))))))))
Olya, your comments always make me feel happy.
Have a ’super nice day’, as someone likes to put it!
a new film from me)
‘New York, I Love You’
it was made in very popular now format of short stories
I can say that it’s safe combination of sad and funny moments so you are sad and smiling at the same time
but I liked it)
hello))
I left a comment at our page, but I didn’t find it there,
maybe there are too many messages)
and I’m writing at this page)
I told Zoya that A.L. would leave us because of that awful traffic jam, and Zoya said that we should choose convenient time for our classes)
so I didn’t have to ask her about it))))))))))))))))))
but in this case it would be better to move our classes on Monday – is it ok for you?
p.s.
what do you think about my new slogan “from mill to millions”?)
I think we should move our page to the forum – you’ll be free to write as much as you want to.
Let’s discuss everything next Wednesday – I’m sure we’ll sort everything out.
And I Like the way your slogans looks (mills and millions should contain a pun or something, I feel it, but I don’t understand it((
–
today I visited that exhibition about Dyagilev’s Paris seasons. I liked it! you can see there many photos, drawings, real ballet costumes)
it was interesting to look at all details)
also they show every day different films (you can check the program in advance)
I was lucky and watched a film about Paris of the period 1900-1910)
half documentary half feature film, made in 1946, is full of witty comments and funny moments
have lots of sweet dreams)))))))))
Hi! Some days ago i talked with Lena Voronina, her husband Sasha takes a great interest in famous indian guru Krishnamurty. So i decided to find his book and now i am reading «Freedom From The Known». It’s one from lots of books, which a am reading. I like this book, because this guru gives lots of interesting thoughts. For example he gives advice to observe observe your own life every minute and be very attentive to yourself. Through this observation you can find many defects of character(your own) and no need to improve it, just observe! No need to blame, you can see you, as who you are… So sitatation can change!))
Anya, thanks for the comment – I think observation without assessment is most interesting and useful. I like this method most of all, more than seeing something good in negative events. Isn’t it much better not to evaluate at all? It takes a lot of effort, though. But I keep doing it!
P.S. Isn’t it much better not to evaluate at all? – a most illogical phrase, like many things in our life))
)) Today i tasted this orange dish) It is very tasty! Smell of oranges is wondeful!
Why is this phrase illogical! I absolutely agree, evaluating takes a lot of effort! This guru says the same things.
Isn’t it much better not to evaluate at all? – Anya, the phrase, definitely, has evaluation in it))
And I was going to try another recipe from http://www.sunflow.ru/?p=49, but changed my mind and did my first three exercises in Italian, instead. I sent them to the only person among my friends whose native language is Italian (of course, he was a complete stranger to me) and in about 20 minutes got a nice letter from him. He turned out to be a pianist and here are the links he gave to me:

you can join me on Facebook for more stuff or help about Italian: franzfarina@alice.it
I hope you’ll enjoy the youtube links and use the last one for learning Italian
Take care!

Isn’t it a good reason for a house-warming party?
